Zoo

A clique event to the zoo.

Zoo are for kids. Zoo are for families with kids. Zoo are for tourists. Zoo are for 20 year-olds like us who never really did grow up.

Zoo was fun. We watched and marveled at the animals, laughed at some. We lunched by the elephants, trying to overcome that reserve that comes with age and periods of absence. I was glad that we could still hang-out like that.

Walking from Primate Kingdom to Reptile Garden, we saw the bengal white tiger that mauled and killed a suicidal man, a flashing hamadryas baboon, a thirsty green parrot and the proboscis monkeys aka penis-nose monkeys.

My Valentine

Oh my, oh my, I am so lagging in posts. Many things have happened, events passed, and I have yet to properly chronicle them in thee blog. Sighhh.... I was busy.

So I will pick up from where I left off. My first Valentine date with the Y-chromosome carriers. And I got flowers! (the guys were forced into it, haha. we, the girls, didn't want to look bad without the flowers.)

Sam booked a table for us at his restaurant where he recently was promoted to the head chef. And that's edo, stella and I. It was raining and freezing cold! Brrrr, Sydney experienced a freakish temperature drop, 40 to 11 degrees Celsius. Not in the picture: Ja, Cynthia and Denny.
The bar, salsa dancing area. Cynthia tried to teach me to dance salsa. Can't say I'm a natural dancer, but, hey! I did wriggle my butt as sexily as I could.

First course: tomato garlic bread with smoked salmon wrapped cream cheese. Nice!
Mojito. A good one.

Second course: Tuna cake. hmm, forgetable. Taste was alright, and it was a tad on the dry side.

Third course: baked scallops. This is wayy too dry. Blah.

Fourth course: chilli mushroom. I like this! Fresh mushrooms baked in tomato and chilli sauce with a layer of cheese on it. Yumm!

Fifth course: baked ganache with vanilla ice-cream. The menu reads baked ganache but it is actually a chocolate pudding. The taste and texture is similar to the chocolate tart filling we did in school, which was fantastic. Needless to say, we all liked it, which is something because all six of us are pastry students.

Bleeeehhhh. I'm eating and you're not!

Christmas Day

Christmas day was such a rushed affair. When I finally had the brains to go dig out my camera, all the food were gone. Therefore, it's only the kuku veggies.

Turnip, poppy, cabbage, lalang and broccoli. I hope I didn't mess that up. haha. That's KV for you. 7 years of friendship and running.

Pyrmont market, Last French class

The most recent Saturday is my last French class in Sydney (not that I won't continue when I return but it won't be with the same bunch of people again) and also a Pyrmont market session in a very long time. God, I miss Pyrmont farmers' market. In fact, I missed 1 hour of French class just to attend the market.

The first thing I noticed upon entering the market is the aroma of steaks grilling on the pan from the steak stall. Ah, the smell of Pyrmont market. Then it was the dogs. People here love to bring their dogs out at every possible opportunity. Big dogs, small dogs. I miss Vicky.

So some last minute shopping before I return. Bought a couple of jams, 2 bags of one of Sydney's best coffee (freshly grounded) and macadamia nuts for Christmas.
Many people came that day. I think it was because the weather was so good. Bright and sunny, abit of an overkill really. We were baked while having our breakfast.
Breakfast! Cold lemonade (super good, it has like got spices and ginger in it) and chorizo sandwich with caramelised onions and tomato basil sauce. Ohhh.
Was very tempted to buy some of the pastries too. But, was wayyy too full from the sandwich. Hot weather truly makes one eat less. Great for slimming. hoho.
And then we arrived at French class, very late and very sweaty.

The class was in such a party mode. All we could think and talk about was the performance we had to give later at the party. haha, Joel is Rudolf.

Finished an hour earlier for the party. Stella, Monique and I.

Waiting for our turn to singg. We had to sing in French:

On appelait Nez Rouge... (Rudolf the red-nose reindeer)

Not the exact translation but it is the equivalent of the English version.

Gabriella, Stella,Matthiew, Monique and I.

Would you like to have some pie? hahaha.

Aww, I'll miss you...

In the center is our teacher, Liliane. Elle est chercher pour un italien surfer.

Mary, Heidi (Me) and Michele.

Party food!

"I'm not kidding, I am opening my eyes!" I would miss Matthiew extremely, him and his dry Brit humour.

Another failed blood donation

Morning 11:30am, I spent half an hour tying my hair into 2 french plaits but I was fifteen minutes early since Kimmy came 1/2 an hour late. We, more accurately I, are going to do a super good deed. We are going to give our precious blood to someone in need.

We arrived at the blood donation venue after lunch (according to 3 times donor Kimmy, we have to go on a full stomach, and we got to have lots of sugar flowing in our blood, so she bought the super sweet bubbletea for the extra boost. But according to the failed Biology student, me, a full stomach is more than sufficient, I don't want to be mistaken to be diabetic) to a full house event. The wait was 1 and 1/2 hours. No thank you, I will come the next day. So off we went to the city~

Christmas is coming! We found a 3 storey high Christmas tree inside of QVB. Nowhere as extravagant as Singapore but very christmassy all the same. We've only manages to fit the tree trunk with our faces.

So Kimmy and I met up with Stella in the city and went for another round of eating in Chat Thai, this popular Thai restaurant in the city. Banana fritters and cendol! If I swap the current banana diet rage for banana fritters and cendol every morning, I bet I will go in the other direction with a very possible diabetic condition.
After the erm.. tea break, we went for a fruit gathering at paddy's market where $2 pineapples and hoards of bananas are. Stella and I swept 10 bananas, 6 golden kiwis, a bunch of grapes and a $2 pineapple with us. Hooray.

In the space of time we had before dinner:

We competed for the lamest facial expression.

And guys, I hate to break this to you, I grew fatttttttt. haha! I have no idea why I feel so happy about it but the thought of being able to tell people that I have grown in mass makes me very happy. :D Time to loose some weight girl.

Dinner. Gule rice at Joy cafe (Indonesian cafe) is super yummy! Fatty mutton is stewed in a curry like soup until soft and is served with a dash of lime on the top. The thing with the weight can wait.
